Land of Fishermen, the Algarve, has varied gastronomy based on fish, crustaceous and seafood. In Faro, gourmets and visitors also interested in gastronomy or good cuisine can taste the delicious local seafood.

"The Sardine in the bread, it's in Portimão", says a local slogan that apply also to Faro. From the sardines and the carapaus to the famous ameijôas à Portimonense, there are several local specialties that win the palate of the visitors.

In Faro, typical dishes are also made with countryside products, such as partridge, pork, mutton, rabbit, shank, among others.

The rich and tasty Portimonese cuisine offers a variety of dishes, such as linguine soup, octopus rice, fried squid, famous arjamolho, peas à Portimonense and delicious stews.

Sweets, Wine and Medronho

The delicious desserts with figs and almonds, the Donut Rodrigos and the morgados are also among the favorite sweets. Tasty local wines are also a good choice. And, to finish, do not forget to taste the famous aguardente de medronho.
