Lagoa is a city (6,000 inhab.) and a municipality with 23,718 inhabitants (INE, 2021, 1), in the district of Faro, in Algarve, south of Portugal.


Lagoon: Turquoise sea and colorful cliffs
The Algarve coast in Lagoa enchants many visitors who, every year, visit its beaches. The main attractions of the place, these are completed "by the colorful fishing port of Ferragudo, the romantic chapel of Nossa Senhora da Rocha perched over the sea and the fantastic Algar Seco rocks [Visit Algarve].

Amazing beaches

"Seen from the sea, the coastline is a succession of colorful cliffs, strangely shaped rocks, from caves to which the transparency of the waters magnifies the almost unreal beauty. Land of good wines

In addition to white beaches, the municipality (municipality) of Lagoa is also one of the four DOP (Denominations of Protected Origin) of wines produced in the Algarve. The other three Lagos, Portimão and Tavira. Good wines and gastronomy, for the happiness of the inhabitants and visitors.

With an area of 88 km⊃, the municipality of Lagoa currently has a population of 23,718 inhabitants (INE, 2021).

At the time of the previous census, the population of Lagoa was 22,975 inhabitants, registering an increase of 2.2% in the resident population (INE, 2021).


Location

Between Albufeira (to the east) and Portimão (to the west)
The municipality (municipality) of Lagoa is limited to the north and east by Silves, to the west with Portimão and to the south with the Atlantic Ocean.
