Beaches of Portimão

The beautiful beaches of the Land of Fishermen. Portimão is Algarve's most important fishing port.

Portimão's coastline stretches over about 10 km from the Ria de Alvor (to the west) to the Arade River mouth (to the east).

Praia da Marina

Little beach on the west bank of the mouth of the Arade River.

Praia da Rocha

Most appreciated beach in Portimão, the beach Praia da Rocha, 1,5 km long, is one of Portugal's most known beaches.

Praia dos Três Castelos

The Three Castles beach bears its name from the three rock formations in the sea. Beautiful view from the cliffs and to reach the beach there is a step.

Praia do Amado

Beautiful beach framed by typical bright red and ochre cliffs. Great view and facilities for those coming by car.

Praia dos Careanos

Another beautiful beach with high bright red and ochre cliffs from which there is amazing view, including iconic Praia da Rocha.

Praia Vau

Quiet beach with bright red and ochre cliffs. There are facilities for tourists which include restaurants, toilets and parking.

Praia Barranco das Canas (Alemão)

There is a gully with reeds growing on both sides nearby this beach. This explain its name. Beautiful sandy beach with pines on the cliffs.

Prainha

Beautiful sandy beach with some rock formations.

Praia Alvor Nascente (Três Irmãos)

Quiet beach between Prainha, Três Irmãos beaches and Beach Alvor Poente.

Praia Alvor Poente

The last beach on the Portimão's coastline. Quiet beach with a sand barrier which forms an island on the Ria Alvor.
