Area and Population

With an area of 4,960 km², the District of Faro (which corresponds to the Algarve Region), currently has a population of 467,495 inhabitants (INE, 2021).
According to the previous census, from 2011, the district had a population of 451,006 inhabitants. In this way, there was an increase in the resident population of around 3.7%.


Location

The Faro District, the main beach destination in Portugal, is located in the south of the country, in the Algarve. is limited to north with the Beja District, to the east with Spain, to the south and west with the Atlantic Ocean.
